This "book" is a waste of the two seconds it takes to download it! I'm not even entirely sure the people who "developed" these "recipes" have a basic understanding of the English language! I'm not trying to be rude, but there isn't even proper sentence structure going on in 99% of this book! And as for it being "natural", I sure wouldn't call using petroleum jelly, lipstick shavings, and Kool Aid "crystals" as bases, coloring, and flavor/scent natural. And then there is the fact that most of the "recipes" either have too many ingredients that aren't even mentioned in the directions, but you will find ingredients in the directions that aren't on the list of ingredients! Or that the name of the "recipe" doesn't match what's being made (I.e. A cherry balm that only has chocolate in it)I'm pretty sure I lost many brain cells trying to decipher this rubbish! I only gave it one star because I couldn't give it zero!

Natural Homemade Lip Balms edition by Sarah Dempsen Encore Books Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
Good information on different ways to make lip balm
Besides the great number of typos, there were several recipes that promised an ingredient in the title but did not have it in the instructions.
I would recommend the author possibly run this through spell check a time or two and have another person review it for sentance structure. Beyond that I was surprised a book whose title begins with natural has recipes containing lip stick shavings, petroleum jelly and kool aid. One of the recipes is titled "Creamy Lip Balm wit Cherry Flavor" yet ingredients does not contain any Cherry Flavor or information on how much to use.
I may try a few of these recipes but was really hoping there were more "Natural" ones.
Lots of recipes in here, but here is what is missing there is no advice as to what each recipe is good for or any rating on them, no advice as to where to get the ingredients and how much they cost, what the ingredients are, whether any ingredients are toxic or not, any allergy advice, how the lip balms come out, even what containers to use is unspecified or where to buy them. So at first glance it looks helpful and comprehensive but in the end leaves you just overwhelmed with what recipe to try out and all require purchase of ingredients not likely to already have, so in the end a useless collection of good and bad recipes.
The steps for preparation are easy once you have the ingredients. There are a couple of balms prepared using Kool-aid and petroleum jelly, which are ingredients that are easy to find.
The only picture is the one on the cover, so you use your imagination to visualize what the completed product looks like. It would have been helpful to know an estimated shelf life for the balms and where the ingredients can be purchased.
This person needs to decide on a single type of measurement and use it throughout - you've got one recipe that uses ounces, then there is one with grams, then the next uses cups and measuring spoons. Some recipes even use a combination of two different types of measurements...That alone makes me think these aren't her recipes at all, and that they were just scraped off the internet.
I have to be honest, I have never made lip balm before picking up this book. I won't be making it now, with this book.
I will start with what I love about this book. The book gives careful times so you know how much time it will take to make the lip balm. That is a selling point in my mind.
Now, the reason the book lost two stars is this book is not for the novice. There is no glossary explaining the various oils and butters used. There is no suggestions on where to find the ingredients, or containers to hold the lip balm. Explaining how to melt the various products together is not mentioned, instructions merely say to use a double boiler.
There is also and this is the worst part for me, no idea as to how long a finished product should be kept before it expires. That last bit is very important as the ingredients often include powered sugar, cocoa and koolaid. I hesitate to try these recipes without knowing if or when the the lip balm can be expected to expire. The answer might be two weeks or eight years, but to those of us unfamiliar with making lip balms, don't know the answers to the question.
I would love to see this book reworked to accommodate novices, or retitled to specify it is for seasoned lip balm creators.
